PSI’s approach to Preconstruction is to virtually build the project, via the process of preparing a reliable budget and schedule. A core goal of preconstruction is to unearth potential constructability issues or conflicts within building systems. These services are a crucial part of planning stages of a project, paving the way to a smooth job. Preconstruction services are used to help meet a client’s vision as well as match their construction budget. These services make sure their project is feasible on a given site, as well as give a few different options that may be more cost-effective.

  • Cost Estimation
  • Design Assist
  • BIM / Engineering / Shop Drawings
  • Value Engineering

There are many benefits to using prefabricated wall systems and architectural sections. For example, by utilizing prefab elements such as dry wall shapes and Panelmax, PSI is able to achieve aggressive schedules for our clients by building offsite while other work is being conducted in the field.

Our prefabrication services reduce field-carpentry time, helping to avoid cluttered projects, reducing parking needs, and creating an overall smaller footprint by utilizing less tooling and scaffolding on site and for shorter durations.

Utilizing prefabrication services also increases quality control by building in controlled environments, increases productivity to all trades as more wall systems are available more quickly, and offers many safety benefits by reducing tasks being completed on the project and reducing crew sizes.

There are many reasons to choose prefabrication for your project. Here’s just a few:

  • Better quality control
  • Improved safety
  • Minimized in-field build time
  • Reduced costs
  • Increased productivity
  • Reduced the time equipment is on site

Methodology

Union/Training

Our crews are union trained, highly-skilled, and certified tradesmen, which helps reduce the likelihood of costly and dangerous mistakes. Our experienced foremen are prepared to navigate unforeseen field conditions and conflicting details, and have the tools to facilitate onsite coordination when needed.

In addition to union training, PSI is committed to ongoing, focused in-house training for all field staff. We partner with suppliers to offer certifications and training courses on materials and tools to better meet the evolving demands of the industry. We also have made it a company-wide priority to achieve 100% union certification, and will be the first company to ever meet this goal once achieved.

We are proud to be union signatory and are committed to strengthening our relationship with the Southwest Carpenters Union.

Lean Practices

PSI utilizes Lean Construction in all aspects to eliminate waste and highly recommends the use of value engineering. This method of review of materials, systems, and equipment is a powerful tool that is used to identify a variety of options and possible solutions to complete a project on time, while also retaining quality and meeting contract specifications.

Technology

PSI has a dedicated team that ensures our Operations & Safety divisions keep up with the latest technology, benefiting our field crews and project management teams. One of these technologies is BIM (Building Information Modeling) which is an intuitive, 3D modeling process that helps architects, engineers, contractors, and clients envision and efficiently plan and manage projects of any size. PSI has also combined BIM with a new tool from Spectar that integrates augmented reality at our jobsite by overlaying BIM models in a 1:1 scale, using Microsoft’s Hololens2. The tool creates a fully immersive experience in the jobsite, enabling our team to use actionable metadata in the field, quickly improving existing workflows and control processes.
